What is the benefit of stereotactic imaging?
The stereotactic machine (sometimes called ABBI) can localize, pinpoint and biopsy abnormalities as small as a few millimeters. By stereotactically localizing a mammographic abnormality, the lesion can either be core biopsied at the time of the stereo or pinpointed for a complete surgical excision. The biopsies are done under local anesthesia with minimal discomfort. We offer Stereotacic Imaging and biopsies at the Breast Center.
