What is the “beatnik” generation?

It was in the latter part of the 50s down to early 70s where the young generation became non-conformists to the conventional behavior of young adults. They deviated from what is normal or regular e.g. long hair, unkempt appearance, permissiveness etc. More like “hippies” of the 70s. It was a culture that grew within and among the young, not only in America but elsewhere in the world. It was a decade of transformation for the young generation and a time of great moral decadence. The music industry by then had started a revolutionary kind of music as it underwent major radical changes in their kind of song/s that was/were mostly all noise, no rhythm. Altogether, it was an era that mocked at righteousness and discipline.
