What is the beacon frequency of the TERRIERS satellite?
TERRIERS does not have a beacon in the usual sense of the word. We only broadcast when we are over our ground station. The main communication transceiver broadcasts in the S-band. We also have a science experiment which broadcasts in the UHF (400.032 Mhz) and VHF (150.012 Mhz) to a chain of receivers in order to use radio tomography to image the ionosphere between the satellite and the ground stations. • What fundamental questions are you hoping to answer with the TERRIERS data? The primary goal of the TERRIERS mission is to demonstrate global ionospheric tomography using ultraviolet light and utilize that technique for studying ionospheric/thermospheric phenomena; that is to use tomography to study ionospheric structures and their propagation, and to determine the relationship between these structures and the solar system environment. • What will the practical payoff be for the average person? TERRIERS is designed to do basic research into the structure and dynamics of the upper atmos
