What is the basis for the spacing on the construction access cut-ins, and why cant the distance between them be increased?
The cut-ins provide access to the stream channel from the main access path, as depicted in the figure to the right. (Click on the image for a larger view.) Locations are selected based on two basic criteria: 1) fewest number of trees and 2) a spacing of approximately 100 ft (on average this distance varies somewhat depending on available open areas).
