What is the Baseball Survivor project?
The Baseball Survivor project was started by Tom Hanrahan. Tom’s idea was to place 100 players on an island and vote them off, one-by-one, with the least qualified players banished first. The last player remaining would be baseball’s ultimate survivor, the best player in the history of Major League Baseball. Sounds fun. Can I join? Sorry, membership in the Baseball Survivor project is now closed. Membership was restricted to members of The Society for American Baseball Research. Project announcements were sent to SABR’s mailing list, SABR-L, to attract members. How did you decide who would make the island? All 19 project members made up a list of the 100 players they felt were the best players in the history of Major League Baseball.
