What is the Aztec Code?

0

An Aztec code is a general-purpose two-dimensional matrix bar code that resembles a square bulls eye. Because Aztec code can encode small or large quantities of data (digits, text, or bytes), it can be used in conjunction with traditional bar codes to help prevent paper coupon fraud and to capture additional levels of information regarding the consumer. Manufacturers agents scan Aztec codes during coupon processing and provide the encoded information to both the manufacturer and the coupon vendor. Retail point-of-sale systems are not capable of scanning Aztec codes. At this time, however, Aztec code is not being used in the coupon industry.
