What is the Axtell to Kansas 345,000-volt Electric Transmission Line Project?
NPPD’s Axtell to Kansas 345,000-volt Electric Transmission Line Project is part of a larger, multi-entity project that encompasses approximately 225 miles of new, 345,000-volt transmission line to be built in the states of Nebraska and Kansas. NPPD’s portion of the project (53 miles) will be constructed from NPPD’s Axtell Substation, located near the community of Axtell, 10 miles southwest of Kearney, Neb., south to the Nebraska/Kansas border. There, NPPD’s new transmission line will link with a similar transmission line project being constructed in Kansas by ITC Great Plains. NPPD is responsible for the Nebraska portion of this regional project. The southern terminus of the entire project will be located at a substation at Spearville, Kansas. The project scope for NPPD’s Axtell to Kansas 345,000-volt Electric Transmission Line Project will include expansion of the Axtell substation.
