What is the average weight of siberian tigers?

0

Siberian tigers are regarded as “giants” and the largest subspecies of tigers, but recent studies have shown that Siberian tigers are in fact the second largest after the Bengal tiger. Since the launch of the “Siberian Tiger Project” it was found that the largest Amur tiger that they were able to scientifically verify was a male weighing 205 kg (450 pounds). The average, however, for adult males ranges from 160 – 190 kg (350 – 420 pounds), and for females it is 120 – 130 kg (260 – 290 pounds). It is is believed that historically, when prey abundance was higher and their population was more stable, male amur tigers averaged well over 600 pounds, and the females close to 400. But reports of these enormous specimens came from old hunting records and are not scientifically verified, therefore they are unreliable. Currently the largest subspecies of tigers are Bengals, specifically the ones found in northern India and Nepal, with males averaging 520 pounds, and females around 300.
