What is the average size (area) of a lithium ion battery in modern hybrid cars?
The current generation hybrids, toyota or Honda, use Nickle metal hydride NiMH batteries When GM crushed the EV1 they sold the NiMH patents to Chevron, who put a capacity limit on the size of battery pack, and sued Toyota for lots of money for over the use in the RAV4ev; This limits the range to about 10 miles, hence the Toyota had to suplement the batteries with a clunky infernal combustion engine and the hybrid was born Li-ion will only get used for plug-in or fully electric vehicle when they come available (currently there is only the Tesla and lots of demonstration vapourware)
