What is the average number of program proposals submitted each year, and of that number how many are accepted?
An average of 186 proposals are submitted each year by SISs, committees, chapters, caucuses and individuals. In the past five years, AALL has received as many as 197 (in 2008) and as few as 177 (in 2006). For 2010, 182 program proposals were received. Based on the number of available program slots, only about 36% of the proposals received can be selected each year. The programming schedule since 2007 has allowed for a total 66 program slots each year. Of the 66 slots, three are pre-designated for the Hot Topic, Call for Papers and Legislative Advocacy Update programs. The #1-ranked proposal by each of the 13 SISs gets selected as well. A maximum of four pre-conference workshops can be selected. The Annual Meeting Program Committee works to review, rate and select a balanced lineup of programs that reflect the varied experience levels, job types, and emerging needs of AALL members, aiming to build a schedule of educational content that is unique to the law librarian community.
