What is the Average income of a preschool teacher?

In my experience at one school only, being one semester away from a FCCPC (or the old CDA credential), required to teach k-4 and under, a starting salary was $7,000.00 a year – summers off. (This is a part time position from 8:00am-12:00pm.) I was told upon completion of the credential, the salary could go up to $8,000.00 – if there is substantial previous experience in the field, that obviously offsets the salary a bit. I was beginning as a mom who needed to keep her kid in the private shcool. I worked as a teacher’s aide for two years and then was promoted to teach in the middle of the year when the teacher suddenly had to move. I was in the middle of my credential classes then and will have it completed soon. If I had a full AS in early education, I believe the pay would be even higher. But it is good to knwo where most people start off with no experience of credentials… at least at our private school.
