The average class size is 30-40 students. Our introductory courses have the largest enrollment (approx. 150 students) but our 100 level course size ranges from 15 to 60 students. All our 200 level courses are considered seminars and therefore only have 15 to 18 students.

The normal classroom accommodates 36 students and the average class size is about 20 students. There are no large lecture halls. Therefore, you will get to know your professor and he/she will know you. You will not become “just a number.

We are the smallest accredited law school in California with class sizes averaging less than 35 students and in some class as small as 20 students. Our total combined enrolled for our campuses in Santa Barbara and Ventura is under 125 students.

“Average” can be a very misleading term. Classes at Yale range from one-on-one tutorials to a small seminar to a lecture course of several hundred students. In the fall of 2002, 77 percent of classes enrolled fewer than twenty students; 31 percent enrolled fewer than ten. In the same semester only 38 courses, out of 1,170 offered, had enrollments of 100 students or more.
