What is the average class size in the NWT? Does this vary from community to community?
ClassroomClass size varies a great deal from community to community. In Colville Lake and Kakisa for example, there are 8 to 10 students in K to 12 in the whole school. Bigger centers like Hay River and Yellowknife have class sizes that range from 20 to 35 students. Funding for education by the Government of the Northwest Territories will increase over the next three years. This new funding will help to reduce class size in most jurisdictions.
