What is the average age a welsh section d cob mare will live to?
You can never say for definite how long any horse will live for, it really depends on each horse as an individual – one horse is going to be very different to another. We have a lot of welsh cobs at the yard I work, the oldest living lad is mid 20s now, we aged him at about christmas and if I remember rightly he was about 27 – he’s been slowing down a lot these past few years, and is now mainly just used for light schooling/hacking and a bit of jumping because he loves it. We had a welsh cob mare there a few years ago who when she died was late 20’s, she was still going very strong right up to a few months before she died, she would still cart people around the school and was still very fit and healthy,she passed on with her reputation of being a hyper active naughty girl still in tact :P.
