What is the “Auto-Boot” feature?

0

(Top) A: This feature allows you to automatically boot any .nds file at startup. First, rename an .nds file (homebrew or ROM) to “defaultz.nds,” where “z” is one of three letters: x, y (representing the X and Y buttons), or n (read on below for more on “n”). Next, place the renamed .nds file in the root of your MicroSD card. Then turn on your DS while holding the X or Y button down. So if you wanted to auto-boot SnemulDS, you would place SnemulDS.nds in the root directory, rename it “defaultx.nds,” and hold down the X button when you turn on the DS. If you rename it to “defaulty.nds,” then you’d hold down the Y button upon power-up. This feature does not work for the A or B buttons. Finally, if you rename a file to “defaultn.nds” and copy it to the root, it will auto-boot without pressing any buttons. Since most homebrew don’t have an option to exit back to the main GUI, the only way to disable this once you’ve enabled it is by removing the “defaultn.nds” file from the root of your car
