What is the attendance policy for dance classes?
The Dance Program has established a rigorous participation and attendance policy for classes. Participation means being fully engaged in the class. Dance majors and minors are expected to use professional work ethics in class. Because Dance as an Art form is learned through experience and analysis, the dance faculty expect students to be present in a timely manner, dressed appropriately for the dance form, attentive to the subject, and intellectually engaged. Each instructor will inform enrolled class members of the class’s specific dress policy, maximum allowable absences, number of “sit outs” for minor illnesses, and specific ways one may make up absences for the class in the course syllabi. In general, technique classes allow for 1 absence with no penalty, with a maximum of 4 absences allowed. Three make ups and two “sit outs” are allowed. Students may also be penalized for being late to class. Again, read the course syllabus for your specific requirements. All Dance students enroll
