What is the ASD Policy about?
• The new policy introduces a framework to govern ASD initiatives and to account for them and their results. • This framework provides a means by which to ensure that the public interest is taken into account when ASD initiatives are undertaken. • This policy applies to the creation or the renewal of the following types of organizations for the provision of programs and services: Service Agencies, Special Operating Agencies, Departmental Service Agencies, Departmental Corporations, branches or divisions of the Public Service, Crown corporations, administrative tribunals, shared governance corporations (for a complete list and definitions, please click here to go to the Policy on ASD. • It also covers partnering and collaborating with other sectors and levels of government for the delivery of programs and services and contracting-out of federal programs and services to the private and not for profit sector.
