What is the area near Rouen, France like?
Rouen is in Upper Normandy. It is located on a meander of the Seine, surrounded by rural countryside, beech and pine woodland, and by chalky cliffs carved over the centuries by the river. Its unique setting has inspired many painters and writers, and particularly the impressionist school. It is a landscape of rolling hills, mostly farmland, one of the greenest areas of France, where cattle is raised and dairy products such as butter and cheese are made. The near by forests are the Forêt d’ Andaine (6,000 hectares) and the Forêt de Rouvray. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/For%C3%AAt_… There are some lakes, but they are not very big.
