What is the AR-DRG Classification System?
A. The AR-DRG Classification System (Australian Refined – Diagnosis Related Groups) or ‘the System’ refers to both the ICD-10-AM/ACHI (International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems 10th Edition Australian Modification/Australian Classification of Health Interventions) classifications (and the accompanying Australian Coding Standards – ACS) and the AR-DRG classification. These classifications will continue to be used to ‘code’ (ICD and ACHI) and ‘group’ (AR-DRG) inpatient episodes of care in Australian hospitals.
