What is the approvals process for a CIL application?
Applicants are encouraged to engage in pre-consultation with the Planning Branch, their Ward Councillor, and any registered Community Associations in their neighbourhood before filing an application for Cash-in-lieu of Parking. The purposes of these meetings are to identify potential issues and studies or information that will be required as part of the application submission. For example, applications for more than 10 parking spaces require the submission of a Parking Study, prepared by the Applicant. After an application is submitted, it is assigned to a planner who will review the application for sufficiency and issue a community heads-up to the Ward Councillor and registered Community Associations to advise that an application has been filed. Cash-in-lieu of Parking applications are subject to public consultation.
