The following outlines the main steps of the approval process: Step 1 (Principal Investigator) When you submit your application the system will ask you which department you would like it sent to for approval. Your application will be sent to the head of the department you specify for review and approval. Step 2 (Department Head) After reviewing the application, the department head will either, a) send it back to the PI to request changes or clarifications, or b) approve the application. If approved, the application will be forwarded to the Animal Care Committee Administrator (ACCA) for review. Step 3 (ACCA) After reviewing the application, the ACCA can either a) send the application back to the PI with requests for change or clarification, or b) forward the application for Committee Review (either full review or an expedited review). Step 4 (Committee Member) The application will be reviewed at the next expedited or full committee meeting. Expedited meetings occur every 2 weeks and ful
