What is the approval process for a heliport?

0

Children’s has filed an amended Planned Development (PD) document with the city, which includes its request to zone the proposed hospital site for a heliport. If the amended PD is approved and the land is rezoned for heliport use, Children’s will complete an application for the heliport. IDOT (Illinois Department of Transportation) takes the application through the FAA’s process generating a report that is then submitted to the Chicago Department of Aviation as part of an application for a heliport. If the agencies approve the heliport, Children’s has permission to construct it. Children’s then has 18 months to build the heliport, flight test it, and get it inspected.
