What is the application process for Alternative Trade Adjustment Assistance?
• An application must be filed within two years of the first day of qualifying reemployment. • The worker must indicate that a “choice” has been made between Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) and Alternative Trade Adjustment Assistance (ATAA). • Workers cannot switch to the TAA program once they begin receiving the ATAA supplement. • The receipt of the initial ATAA payment represents the individual’s decision and voids their rights to retraining, allowances, and TRA.
