What is the anticipated impact of this work on international students, particularly around optional practical training (OPT)?
Because these positions must be filled immediately, viable candidates will be those who are ready to work. For international students, this means they must have their work authorization by the time they are required to start (some as early as May 1 and no later than August 1). Since international students are eligible for OPT, they are essentially ready to work immediately because OPT does not take long to process. TIP: As an international student with an F-1 visa, as soon as you are called for an interview, you are advised to call the Visa Services office to discuss your OPT. See http://www.internationaloffice.duke.edu/VisaAppEntryUS.html for more information on the Visa Services office. (Note: This information does not apply to US citizens and permanent residents who are automatically eligible to work in the United States).
