What is the Annual Cancer Walk-a-Thon?
The Annual Cancer Walk-a-Thon began in 1981 as one of seven cancer walk-a-thons around the state of New Mexico. These walk-a-thons were started to raise money for cancer research and to bring awareness of cancer to communities throughout New Mexico. Of those seven, the one in San Juan County is the only one that remains active. Proceeds have benefited cancer research, patient care services, the Connelly Hospitality House and the San Juan Medical Foundation. Why am I walking?
