What is the Animal Sheltering Services Board?
A seven-member, Governor-appointed Board, with a paid staff that will include a veterinarian, inspector and administrator, all administratively tied to Regulation and Licensing. This board will support and provide oversight and assistance for city -and county-operated or -contracted animal shelters that are currently unregulated and who may not currently house animals appropriately or employ minimal standards of humane care, conduct or accountability. The Board will also create a mechanism to ensure these and other private shelters can provide humane euthanasia to unwanted animals by licensing Euthanasia Providers. .
