Answer-8. Standard Deduction under sec. 16 (i) will not be available in the case of salaried employees with effect from A.Y. 2006-2007. However deduction u/s 16(ii) entertainment allowance deduction in case of Govt. employees and sec. 16(iii) deduction of professional tax will continue.
