What is the American Moderate Movement?
To begin with it’s not a political party. Its purpose is to give substance to a political philosophy based on three fundamental beliefs that are fast disappearing from American politics. Civility – There is a need to return civil discourse to the political process. In order to achieve this there must be “rules of political engagement” that are accepted by persons running for office, recognized by the media, and enforced by the voting public. Compromise – To bind the society together it is necessary that policies be based on compromises that recognize the legitimate concerns on all parties. Constructive Discussion – The best policy decisions are the result of exchange of ideas and proposals. Such discussions, when conducted civilly and with the goal of finding the best compromise solution, result in policies that are well thought out and have the widest possible levels of support.
