What is the American Heart Associations recommendation regarding the use of hypothermia in cardiac arrest?
The 2005 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation recommends the following treatment for patients resuscitated from out of hospital cardiac arrest: “Unconscious adult patients with ROSC (return of spontaneous circulation) after out of hospital cardiac arrest should be cooled to 32° to 34°C for 12 to 24 hours…”
