What is the AIChE Local Sections Discussion Group at Topica?
One focus of the AIChE Local Sections Committee is to improve information sharing between local sections. In December 2001, the Committee set up a pilot discussion group on Topica.com to facilitate such communication. The pilot group consisted of approximately 25 local sections, whose objective was to assess the value and effectiveness of this type of communications tool. Since it’s inception, the group has grown to over 260 subscribers and topics discussed have ranged from programming events and ideas, corporate support and fundraising opportunities, to membership and volunteer recruitment and retention best practices.
