What is the Agency doing when infested trees are found?
Although the finds are of concern, most of them are manageable and many of the infested trees have been already removed. Extensive surveying is underway in Southwestern Ontario and the Agency anticipates that additional woodlots or properties in the Chatham area may be found to be infested. When this happens, the property owner will be contacted by the CFIA to ensure that infested material is not removed from the property. Further action will be taken to prevent the further spread of EAB as required.
