What is the age of consent for consensual sex with another person in the state of Tennessee?
Is it safe to say that the age of consent in a state is the age above which the younger partner could have consensual sex with another person and there could not be any charges of child abuse or statutory rape. Or alternatively, are there instances where the age of consent for a state is lower than the age for which someone could, under specific circumstances, still be charged with child abuse or statutory rape. I am very familiar with child abuse and statutory rape laws. I am just wanting to confirm my definition of age of consent relative to each of these crimes.
