What is the age for starting kindergarten?

0

To be admitted to the St. Charles School District, a child must be five (5) years old for purposes of kindergarten and summer school prior to a kindergarten school term, and six (6) years old for purposes of first grade, before August 1 of the school year in which he or she plans to enroll. Any child who has completed the kindergarten year shall not be required to meet the age requirements for entrance into first grade. Any transfer student who wishes to enroll in the district after having started the school year or the summer school prior to a kindergarten school term in a metropolitan or qualified urban district in this state will be exempt from the entrance age requirement as allowed by law. Students who are entering kindergarten or first grade are encouraged to preregister in the spring prior to the fall semester in which they are to begin attendance.
