The “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” is a novel by Mark Twain, first published in February 1885. It is considered to be a sequel to “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”. The book is told in the first person by Huckleberry Finn, a friend of Tom Sawyer just like “the Adventures of Tom Sawyer” was told by Tom Sawyer. The novel mainly speaks about the adventures of Huckcleberry and his friend Jim, a runaway slave, down the Mississippi River on their raft . The story starts in St. Petersburg, Missouri, on the shores of the Mississippi River when Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry “Huck” Finn have won a large sum of money (from the end of “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”). Huck is under the guardianship of the Widow Douglas, who tries to civilize him, but Huck has troubles adapting to the new life.
