WIPL-D software models metallic and dielectric surfaces by quadrilateral patches. Wire-grid modeling requires much more elements and unknowns than surface patch modeling. The analysis of solid surface metallic models based on wire-grid modeling is about 10 times more time consuming than those based on surface patch modeling. Wire-grid modeling can not be applied to dielectric surfaces. WIPL-D software can be used for both types of modeling, but surface patch modeling is recommended.
