What is the advantage of using the PREVU* POC Test?
The PREVU* POC Test is an independent marker of Coronary Artery Disease (CAD). In numerous recent primary prevention studies and guidelines, there is an increasing emphasis on further risk stratification of patients, especially those deemed to be at intermediate risk of CAD. This test allows the physician to match the intensity of the primary prevention intervention with the level of cardiovascular risk. Such a match allows for the probable prevention of a first cardiovascular event while maximizing the cost/benefit ratio of preventative measures. The PREVU* POC Test allows for the quantification of skin cholesterol levels and has been found to correlate to CAD as measured by: stress test, angiography, coronary calcium, carotid intima thickness, and correlates to other risk assessment markers such as inflammatory markers, Framingham risk assessment scores and previous heart attack.
