What is the advantage of using SG IRON compare to gray cast iron and steel in liner manufacturing?
Ductile iron has more fracture toughness than does gray iron, due to the spheroidal graphite shapes being more tolerant of impact loading than the flake shapes of gray iron. Ductile iron is less expensive than steel, and easier to cast into liner shapes. Finally, when ductile iron is austempered, it is capable of very high strengths. See ductile.org for more information.
