What is the advantage of the Honours Degree in Art History and what are the requirements?
The art history program has long prided itself on the very high quality of its major program and for this reason, an A standing in the major in Art History at UBC has provided entry to graduate programs in Canada, the United States of America, and Europe. Nevertheless, students who are doing very well in their art history courses (a minimum A- average) with at least a B average overall might consider the Honours Art History Program. This may be of interest for students who are contemplating graduate studies in Art History where an Honours degree is specifically indicated as a requirement and/or a career in the arts. However, contrary to some other departments, AHVA does not have separate seminars for Honours students. This is because all of our majors (and Diploma students) are required to take a methods seminar at the (ARTH 300) and at least one research seminar, and this provides a graduate-like experience with smaller classes and focused study and discussion around a specific topic
