What is the advantage of The Breton Group, rather than the library staff, conducting needs assessment?
Because needs assessment provides the basis for “making the case” for library growth, it should reflect both community and professional input. Our process invites participation by key community members and uses national library planning standards and Michigan library statistics. Participants learn about library programs, funding, the value of the library to the greater community and how space constraints impact library service. Through discussion, research and objective evaluation, a facility and funding plan emerges that is realistic, fiscally reasonable and “owned” by the community.
