What is the advantage of shooting and editing digitally?
For the consumer, the quality of the finished product is substantially better. With digital the final product will look as good as the original footage. With analog tapes, editing is done by copying footage onto a new master tape, which is then used to make copies. The copies then are 2 generations from the original footage and subsequently of poorer quality. With digital, each generation is a clone of the next, and therefore no quality is lost in the editing process. Digital editing also gives us a much more flexible editing platform from which to fulfill your needs. Finally, a DVD can last up to 100 years, and still be transferred to another DVD for the next 100. VHS starts to degrade after about 10 years.
