What is the advantage of porcelain tile?
Porcelain is 3% harder than the average granite, and it won’t absorb water. The tiles are hard to break and practically impossible to scratch so they are ideal for commercial use and abuse. In private homes any tile that is produced to commercial standards (Wear rating of 4 or 5) will last 15 to 20 years,– Porcelain will probably last 50 to 60 years. The average cost of a high quality “Ceramic tile” is $3.00 / square ft. and the average cost of a “Porcelain tile” is $3.80 and up. Dollar for dollar, use Porcelain!
