What is the advantage of having an Oyster card?
It is a lot cheaper for single journeys and quicker to use through the gates. And as it never leaves your hand it is harder to lose it in the crush at the gates. You can also pay in advance (prepay / pay as you go) for multiple journeys and cut out queueing time. And you can register the card for free to protect in the event of a loss or theft.
