What is the advantage in using a reel mower over a rotary mower?
My garden store wants almost twice the money for a reel mower, but they did not do a good job in explaining the advantage. A reel mower actually cuts the grass blade between two pieces of steel. A rotary mower cuts with a ripping motion. A sharp rotary mower does a good job, but a reel mower does even better. A reel mower is best for cutting Bermuda grass at low heights like on a golf course, and it is best for cutting tough grasses like Emerald zoysia grass.
