Advance fee fraud is a scam involving a request for payment up front for a promise of easy cash or employment. For example it could be a 10 payment to claim 10,000 or a few hours work for a relatively high salary. The fraudster may say the payments are needed to cover taxes, visa costs or for many other reasons. They sometimes use elaborate and emotional stories, designed to tug on your heartstrings, to get you to join in the scam. On the other hand they might simply request a small payment to claim a large amount of money. Advance fee fraud is also known as West African or 419 fraud. Is lotto fraud the same?
