Stairways in one- or two-dwelling or townhome residences classified as an R-3 occupancy, shall construct stairs complying with 2009 International Residential Code section R.311.7 Stairways. Commercial buildings and all other multi-family R-2 and R-1 occupancy groups shall construct stairs complying with 2009 International Building Code Section 1009 Stairways and Chapter 11 Accessibility & ICC/ANSI A117.1.
