What is the accuracy of dose measurement in the low level on environmental level of activity?

0

There are two methods of dose evaluation: 1) Direct field measurement and 2) Indirectly estimating the radionuclide distribution in various environmental compartments. Accuracy of measurement will depend upon the detector used. For TLDs it is plus/minus 10% with minimum detection limit of 1 mR. For Micro R dosimeters, the accuracy of measurement is about a few mR with a minimum detection limit of about 1 mR/hr. The measurement of individual nuclides is instrument specific. The lowest amount of activity that can be measured in some sophisticated instruments is about 0.008 Bq.
