What is the ABV of Bushmills whiskey?
All our whiskeys are bottled at the alcoholic strength of 40% abv (alcohol by volume), which is standard for whisk(e)y. Other than our recent addition to the range, Bushmills 1608, this is bottled at the slightly higher strength of 46% abv. In some markets, like South Africa, for local regulation reasons Original, Black Bush and Bushmills Malt 10 Year Old are bottled at 43% abv. There have also been a series of limited edition, one-off bottlings, mainly drawn from single casks, released by the distillery until 2 years ago, which were bottled at ‘natural cask strength’ whose alcoholic strength was not brought down (as is normally standard practice) before bottling. These cask-strength whiskeys will typically range from 50 to 60% abv.
