What is the Abingdon Material Recovery Facility and Distilled Spirits Plant emergency spill plan?
While we take every precaution to prevent accidental spills, MXI does have in place a minimization and response plan in the event of a spill. Since we are also waste transporters, all of our trailers are equipped with an over-pack drum and absorbent. Each tractor has a spill kit, absorbent and safety and cleanup equipment. Each driver has been trained in our spill response plan. At the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) and the Distilled Spirits Plant (DSP), the facility itself is on an impervious material with a liner and the site has been graded to allow for accumulation rather than runoff of spilled materials. The MRF and DSP are equipped with fire suppressant materials, over-pack drums, absorbent materials, spill response kits and materials handling equipment required to address any spill type. Our staff is continually trained to ensure that they know how to respond to any spill.
