DePaul welcomed 2,241 freshmen in fall 2010. By Academic Profile On measures of academic preparedness, the fall 2010 freshman class was the strongest in DePaul’s history. The average high school GPA was 3.55. The percentage of freshmen that graduated in the top 10 percent of their high school classes increased from 19 percent in the 2006 class five years ago to 24 percent in 2010. The average ACT composite score was 24.9, with the middle 50 percent of the class scoring between 22 and 27. Nationally, the average ACT composite was 21 in 2010, and only one in five test takers nationally scored above DePaul’s median of 24. By Geography Almost half of this year’s freshmen are from the Chicago suburbs (48 percent), another 29 percent are from out of state and 20 percent are from the city of Chicago. By Gender and Ethnicity The fall 2010 freshman class is 41 percent male. This year, the freshman class is 35 percent minority.
