What is the 16-hour per month respite care benefit?
Respite is short-term care coverage for a patient in order to provide rest and change for the those that have been caring for the beneficiary at home, usually the family. ECHO registered beneficiaries are eligible fo receive a maximum or 16 hours of respite care in any calendar month they also receive other ECHO-authorized services. An example of this is; a beneficiary receiving Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy in a given month is elgible for this benefit. ECHO respite is limited to $2,500 per month and counts towards the $36,000 yearly cap. NOTE: Respite care providers must be a TRICARE-certified Home Health Agency.
